UPDATE ON STANDARD DROPS MEDICAL MARIJUANA VOLUNTARY RECALL 30 APR 2020 As first communicated in July, Standard Wellness (an Ohio-licensed processor) issued a voluntary recall of “Standard Drops,” a water-soluble THC product, after patients reported concerns. For all Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP) products, if a sample exceeds the regulatory thresholds, it would not be permitted to be sold. Prior to sale, this product passed all required lab testing. As communicated in October, the MMCP performed initial testing of samples of unsold product after the voluntary recall, additional testing was then performed on two failed samples to more specifically identify the type of contamination. Those lab results identified Aspergillus, a pathogenic fungus, in both samples. Aspergillus can pose a health risk to patients, specifically those with weakened immune systems. The MMCP has completed its review of the Standard Wellness Voluntary product recall; completing an executive summary which provides an analysis of the circumstances of the recall. The executive summary can be found here.
